Number Of Power Outages Surges In Afternoon In Rockland, Orange Counties

With winds whipping between 20 and 30 mph and gusts approaching 65 mph in the area, thousands remain without power as utility crews scramble to restore service to the region.

As of around 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon, Feb. 25, Orange & Rockland had 1,120 customers in Orange County and 578 customers in Rockland without power, led by Warwick (648); Nyack (253); Florida (247); Clarkstown (137) and Tuxedo Park (130).

On the other side of the river, 3,117 of Central Hudson’s Dutchess County residents were without power. Hyde Park led the way with 1,136 outages, followed by Rhinebeck Village (613); Rhinebeck (468); Poughkeepsie (285) and East Fishkill (198). Other outages were reported in Clinton, Fishkill, LaGrange, North East, Pine Plains, Red Hook, Union Vale, Wappinger and Washington.

Central Hudson also had 510 Orange County customers and 38 Putnam County customers reporting outages.

NYSEG reported that 310 Orange County were still in the dark, including. 

The week is expected to bring wild weather to the area, with winds topping 30 mph and gusts reaching upwards of 65 mph. Temperatures are expected to drop during the week, with potential rain and snow coming later in the week.
